The 27-year-old has been linked to both ourselves and Arsenal, but has potentially disappointed fans of both the clubs by claiming he’d prefer to stay in Ukraine than move to the Premier League.

“Shakhtar will decide what’s best, it would be nice to have a new challenge, but it would be even nicer to stay in Ukraine, at the club that I love.”

With Mario Balotelli misfiring and Daniel Sturridge injured, fans were crying out for striking acquisitions this January, but with two weeks left of the window, it doesn’t look like we’re closing in on anybody.
