GK) Simon Mignolet – 6
A few small signs of improvement from the Belgian once again, with a more confident performance in terms of coming out to claim crosses. He had little else to do.
RCB) Emre Can – 7
Shifted around a couple of times after Rodgers’ substitutions, but never looked phased and turned in another impressive defensive display.
LCB) Glen Johnson – 6
Given a difficult afternoon by Bolton’s experience front pair, but pushed forward well late on.
CB) Mamadou Sakho – 8
The only recognised centre back, but put in a commanding performance as Bolton barely had a chance.
DM) Joe Allen – 5
Quiet performance on his return from injury, did little to impact the game and needs to offer more.
CM) Jordan Henderson – 6
Captained the team in Gerrard’s absence, might have had a penalty after being bundled over by Spearing late on.
RM) Javier Manquillo – 5
Horror miss after the Bolton keeper had saved from Coutinho. He worked hard, but little in the way of end product.
LM) Jose Enrique – 5
Replaced at half-time on his 29th birthday, simply did not offer enough going forward in the wing-back position.
AM) Philippe Coutinho – 7
Was at the heart of much of Liverpool’s good play, creating numerous chances for his teammates without success.
AM) Adam Lallana – 6
Went close a couple of times. Was unlucky not to do better with a late header, when the ball came at him too quickly.
ST) Raheem Sterling – 7
Threatened well through the middle, going close when one-on-one, but faded after being pushed out wide.
Manager: Brendan Rodgers – 6
Can have very few complaints over his team’s performance, but a lack of cutting edge let him down once again.
Subs:
1) Lazar Markovic – 7 – Excellent performance, quick feet caused problems and should have had a penalty.
2) Lucas Leiva – 6 – Went close in the dying seconds after replacing Allen in a like-for-like change.
3) Fabio Borini – 6 – Might have done better with a close range header, but got in the right positions.
