LFC Xtra recently determined the top ten Liverpool goals that might have been. Here’s the list in full:

10) Momo Sissoko v Barcelona (March 2007)

A mistake from Victor Valdes allowed Sissoko a shot from range at an open goal, but his well taken effort bounced back agonisingly off the crossbar – watch it HERE.

9) John Arne Riise v Chelsea (January 2007)

The rampaging full-back burst forward from his position at left-back and unleashed a pile-driver from distance, beating Petr Cech in the Chelsea goal, but seeing the ball strike the crossbar – watch it HERE.

8) Luis Suarez v Arsenal (February 2014)

A cleverly worked corner routine saw the ball fall to Suarez on the edge of the area, with the Uruguayan’s outrageous effort coming back off the post – watch it HERE.

7) John Arne Riise v Tottenham (September 2005)

Another corner, half-cleared by Tottenham, came out to Riise on the edge of the penalty area, with the defender driving a volley against the underside of the crossbar – watch it HERE.

6) Stewart Downing v Sunderland (August 2011)

Downing didn’t enjoy many memorable moments in a Liverpool shirt, but this gave the Anfield faithful a flash of the ability he does have, cutting inside and smashing a shot against the bar – watch it HERE.

5) Philippe Coutinho v Tottenham (December 2013)

A clever chipped pass from Luis Suarez saw the ball pulled back to the edge of the area and while the Brazilian’s strike wasn’t the cleanest, it almost resulted in a superb goal – watch it HERE.

4) Xabi Alonso v Newcastle (May 2009)

Superb long range effort from the Spaniard had the beating of Steve Harper, with only the woodwork denying a wonderful goal from the midfield star – watch it HERE.

3) Jamie Carragher v QPR (May 2013)

On his final game for the club, the iconic defender was urged to shoot and unleashed from range, seeing the ball strike agonisingly against the post – watch it HERE.

2) Daniel Agger v Bolton (January 2012)

The Danish centre-back charged forward from the half-way line and almost broke the crossbar with a powerful effort from range – watch it HERE.
