Rodgers weighs up swoop for talented Birmingham star.
We could be set to make our first signing of the window in the coming days after the Metro reported that Brendan Rodgers is weighing up a move for Birmingham’s Demarai Gray before the end of the January transfer window.
The 18-year-old winger is said to be one of the brightest prospects in the Championship with several top flight sides all believed to be keeping a close watch on him.
Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg had bizarrely been linked with him, but the reports claims that we have have first option after we included an agreement to speak to him first as part of the deal that saw Jordan Ibe move on loan in the opposite direction.
One problem, or incentive to get our act together, is that Blues boss Gary Rowett has advised the England under-19 international to join a top four club.
“He’s a fantastic talent. I think he’s best served being here until an opportunity comes his way that is befitting of his talent,” Rowett said.
“For me at the moment it’s only probably a top-four team that can do that. That’s not being disrespectful to anyone else.”
