Deadline Day transfer rumour roundup: Liverpool linked with countless arrivals, mostly ridiculous

Spurious reports circle the web…

We’re as bored of these transfer rumours as most Liverpool fans, but despite the fact that Brendan Rodgers has claimed we probably won’t be signing anyone, we’ve still been linked today with a number of late deals…

Here’s all of deadline day’s Liverpool transfer rumours, some more farcical than others…!

Andre-Pierre Gignac could arrive, claims Tuttosport in Italy…

The French striker, who plies his trade for Marseille, has scored 16 goals this term, and his contract is up in the summer, meaning he’s available on a Bosman transfer right now…

Rickie Lambert to QPR, Hull City and Leicester, claims the Sunday People…

Relegation battlers fancy our 32-year-old forward, apparently… With our limited striking options, there’s no way we’d get rid of anyone of them, however.

Jay Rodriguez (still injured) has bizarrely been linked by the Mirror…

There is simply no way any club will sign a player who’s been out for nine months before he proves his fitness… Still doesn’t stop them writing it, of course.

West Ham could cash in on Winston Reid, whose contract is out in the summer claims the Mirror…

The Kiwi is not renewing his deal with the Irons, and there’s rumours that West Ham will prefer to cash in on him now than let him leave on a free. For a small fee, this wouldn’t be terrible business, but Rodgers seems happy with his back-three right now.

Lars Stindl, 26-year-old German, could sign in the summer to replace departing Steven Gerrard…

Stindl’s been excellent in the Bundesliga, but is arguably not the high-profile name most are hoping to replace our skipper come the end of the season. This one might rear its head again the summer.

Liverpool have turned down the chance to sign Fabio Coentrao, claims the Daily Star…

As well as Arsenal, we’ve rejected the chance to sign the Portuguese international, who once cost Real Madrid an enormous transfer fee. Because of Coentrao’s likely massive wages, and the excellent form of Alberto Moreno, this probably makes sense.

We’re sniffing around Real Madrid star Asier Illarramendi, claims El Confidencial…

Arsenal fancy the Spanish midfielder, who can’t get in Real Madrid’s starting XI, too… An £18m offer is on the cards, with Brendan Rodgers apparently asking ex-midfielder Xabi Alonso for a scout report! Sounds incredibly unlikely to us…

Finally, the Express thinks that Yevhen Konoplyanka has turned down a move to Roma in order to push though a Liverpool move in the summer…

Remember this time last year when we lost a race against time to sign the Ukrainian international? Well, he’s still at Dnipro, and he’s available on a free. If we were still interested, we’d surely have already signed him by now.
