The Reds will begin their campaign against Brisbane Roar at the Suncorp Stadium in Queensland, before travelling to the Adelaide Oval to play Adelaide United. The two fixtures will take place on Friday July 17 and Monday July 20.

Ian Ayre, Liverpool’s chief executive officer, told our club’s official website: “We visited Australia for the first time two years ago and the support we received from our Australian fans was incredible.

“Liverpool FC have more than 600,000 supporters in Australia and we look forward to meeting as many of them as possible while we are in the country.

“Pre-season is an important time for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season and the matches against Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United are an exciting part of that preparation, giving our supporters a chance to see the team up close, no matter how far away from Anfield they live.”

Pre-season games are always interesting for die-hard Liverpool fans, won not only want to see youngsters play for the first-team, but are also desperate to cast an eye on any new signings.

We didn’t bring anybody in this January, intimating that we’ll likely be far busier come the summer – with a Steven Gerrard replacement, and another top class striker option a priority.

Returning loan stars such as Divock Origi, Joao Teixeira and Andre Wisom may also play their part in pre-season next summer – and Rodgers and his coaching staff will be desperate to get the playing squad primed for a better start to the campaign than we enjoyed this time around.
