FA proposals could aid Liverpool push to sign stylish Argentine attacker

Change in work permit rules could definitely work in our favour.

A change in the way work permits are granted to players could see us make a move for the highly regarded Benfica winger Eduardo Salvio.

The FA is set to change the rules on how permits are granted to foreign talents with currents rules stipulating that players from countries outside the EU must have made a significant number of international appearances to qualify for a special talent visa.

However, under new proposals any player being purchased for over £10 million would automatically be deemed good enough.

Salvio’s mere five caps for Argentina mean it would be likely we’d need to apply the new rules to acquire his services though given Arsenal’s recent acquisition of uncapped Brazilian Gabriel Paulista without much red-tape this is also debatable.

Whilst it’s unclear whether to give this report any credence, the Metro sites sources in Portugal as claiming we’re keen on signing the forward who has managed seven goals in the league this season.

And there’s more than likely space for a forward of Salvio’s stature in our side if Raheem Sterling is to continue his role as a false nine in the place of the misfiring Lambert and Balotelli.

Though if the signing of another winger from Benfica, one Lazar Markovic, has taught us anything it’s that we’d definitely have to give him time to bed in to the Premier League.
