Brendan Rodgers has thankfully admitted that he has no intention of walking out on Liverpool, despite a number of media reports linking him with a move to Manchester City.

The boss only signed a new deal to keep him at the club in the long-term in May last year, after our staggering run of form and title challenge.

“Where do you go from Liverpool, one of the biggest clubs in the world?” the boss told BBC Sport.

“I’ve signed a deal here and I want to be here to see that through. Then, hopefully, I’ve earned enough time to warrant another deal, to keep growing and building here.”

Rodgers certainly talks like a man who is looking to build a dynasty at the club in the style of an Arsene Wenger or Sir Alex Ferguson, at Arsenal and Man United respectively.

The incredible turnaround he has orchestrated this season after a summer of upheaval and revamp in the squad suggests he knows what it takes to win, is adaptable and is the ideal manager for the modern game.

And if we can somehow win the FA Cup this time around and qualify for the Champions League it could be the making of our future successes.

“That is why I came here. I know I need to justify that by working well and winning trophies. I hope that is the next step,” added Rodgers.

“When you come here, that is what you are judged on. It is something I want to do for all the supporters and people here.”
