Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed plans for a football-themed sculpture park in his garden. The 34-year-old is set to join LA Galaxy at the end of the season, and wants to make the most of his empty Merseyside property.

According to reports in the Daily Mirror, the former England international wants to commission artists to create pieces to go on show at his mansion, which will be vacant following his move to the States.

Gerrard, along with his wife Alex and his three daughters, plan to return to the residence upon his retirement, and our veteran skipper wants it well prepared for their return.

The source has revealed that there will be a fire-pit, water feature, outdoor decking and a tree-house for the youngsters, while the main residential building will have ­a cinema, gym, pool, spa, sauna and kids’ playroom.

In addition, the Mirror has been speculating about what other monuments might be erected, including the ‘Great Sphinx of Gazza’, ‘Michelangelo’s David (Beckham)’, and ;’a version of the Statue of Liberty, with arm raised as if to appeal to a linesman.’
