The Welshman sat out the 0-0 FA Cup quarterfinal with Blackburn Rovers at Anfield on Sunday after picking up a hip injury in training a day previously.

But the Liverpool Echo now reports that the 24-year-old should make a quick recovery from the minor problem and will be back for the trip to his home country.

Whilst his involvement has come at the absence of Gerrard, you’d have to say the midfielder has certainly filled his boots as best he can and was sorely missed against Blackburn.

However, unfortunately for Allen, his recovery from injury coincides with the expected return of our captain as he steps up his rehab from a hamstring injury.

It will certainly be interesting to see who Brendan picks – will he let his heart rule over his head?

Steven Gerrard only has a handful of games left before he leaves at the end of the season but you’d struggle to find a side who have been as fluent as us over the past few weeks.

Who would you pick?
