Felipe Anderson is the latest name reportedly registering on the Reds’ transfer radar…

Liverpool have reportedly shown an interest in Lazio’s 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder Felipe Anderson, with scout Paul Goldrick sent to watch him star in the club’s 4-0 win over Fiorentina on Monday evening.

Anderson played the full 90 minutes in Rome as Lazio moved into third place in Serie A, just behind neighbours Roma, leaving them in pole position for  the final Champions League place.

The youngster has scored seven goals and made eight assists so far this season, playing 23 times and becoming a key player for his side. He is contracted until 2018, and is likely to be worth in the region of £20m.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been sizing up a number of potential midfield players ahead of next summer’s transfer window, as he prepares for the departure of Steven Gerrard to LA Galaxy.

However, Anderson is a more attacking player by trade – more in the mould of a Philippe Coutinho or an Adam Lallana – meaning that Rodgers is unlikely to see him as a direct replacement for his long-serving captain. If he’s anything as much of a success as the last Brazilian we acquired from Serie A, Coutinho, we’ll be laughing.
