The Telegraph‘s Mark Ogden, the man who first broke Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, is predicting another busy summer at Old Trafford, after a second successive season of disappointment for the struggling Red Devils.

In contrast to Liverpool, the vast majority of United’s summer signings – who cost a combined fee in excess of £150m – have been a huge flop so far this season, with striker Radamel Falcao in particularly poor form.

With Robin van Persie also struggling, Ogden has tipped United to move for both Paris Saint Germain forward Edinson Cavani, and Clarets striker Ings, who has scored nine goals so far this season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are also thought to be chasing striking options, with the likes of Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini all speculatively linked with moves away from the club.

But after a supposed move for Ings in January was met with an unenthusiastic response from the Reds fans, it remains unclear as to whether we will return for the 22-year-old at the end of the season.
