Liverpool predicted XI v Swansea City – Steven Gerrard and Mamadou Sakho return

Is this how the Reds will line up for our crucial Premier League clash…?

Liverpool travel to Swansea City on Monday, looking to keep pace in the race for a top four place. This will be the Reds’ first game in eight days, so the squad should be well-prepared and well-rested for this one!

Steven Gerrard is back in contention, and it will likely be either him or Joe Allen, also coming back from injury, who take their place in midfield alongside Jordan Henderson. Martin Skrtel (head) and Mamadou Sakho (hip) are also expected to be fit.

Here’s who we think Brendan Rodgers will select:

GK) Simon Mignolet

Still no Brad Jones, and still no competition for the Belgian keeper. No matter, Mignolet has been in fine form since the turn of the year, and made another important save to ensure we took our cup quarter-final to a replay.

DRC) Emre Can

The 21-year-old German was pushed forward into midfield for our last outing, due to the injuries to Gerrard, Allen and Lucas Leiva. But with two of those three set to return, Can should be able to return to the back three.

DLC) Mamadou Sakho

Sakho was among the substitutes for the game with Blackburn, and will no doubt be eager to reclaim his place from Dejan Lovren. This one will come down to who has performed better in training, and we’ve gone with Sakho.

DC) Martin Skrtel

The Slovakian had to be taken to hospital after his clash with Rudy Gestede last week, but he should be fit to return for this one. It’s an encouraging moment for Rodgers, who should have all his defenders to pick from.

MR) Raheem Sterling

The youngster played on the left against Blackburn, but we’ve gone for the versatile contract rebel back on the right for the Swansea game. He could be switched to a more advanced, central role later in the game.

ML) Alberto Moreno

The Spaniard should be itching to get back on the pitch after being rested against Blackburn. Moreno has been in fine form so far this season, and will surely be looking to continue that form in this one.

MC) Steven Gerrard

We’ve gone for the captain over Joe Allen, who we understand is slightly further away from being fully fit. However, don’t be surprised to see the pair switch over on the hour mark, especially if all is going to plan.

MC) Jordan Henderson

Henderson will likely have to surrender the captain’s armband at some stage on Monday evening, following on from Gerrard’s likely return. Rodgers will hope that he’s still able to maintain the same level of performance, even without being the designated leader of the pack.

AMRC) Adam Lallana

Lallana would likely be the man to miss out if Rodgers chooses to play Raheem Sterling in his front three, but as we’ve gone with him on the right, the former Southampton man keeps his place against the Swans.

AMLC) Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian has been near unstoppable so far this season, and I’m sure we’re all looking forward to seeing him back in the thick of the action! Will he treat us to another goal of the season contender this time around?

FC) Daniel Sturridge

We’ve been eagerly anticipating the striker being back at the peak of his powers, and after a week of training and resting, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be on top form and ready to fire us to victory.
