The Reds will return to one of their favourite venues for the upcoming pre-season tour…
Liverpool have announced that the first-team will return to Malaysia for the first time since 2011, as part of our upcoming 2015 pre-season tour.
We will play a friendly match in Kuala Lumpur against a Malaysian XI. The game will take place on Friday July 24 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
The touring party will also include coaching staff from the Liverpool FC foundation charity. The coaches will work with the local community and take part in events with the official supporters’ club.
Speaking about the announcement, Chief executive officer Ian Ayre, who was quoted by our official website, said: “We visited Kuala Lumpur as part of our 2011 pre-season tour and the support we received was incredible.
“Not only from the 80,000 fans that turned out to watch us play at Bukit Jalil, but all our fans in Malaysia throughout our visit.
“Pre-season is an important time for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season and the match against the Malaysian XI is an exciting part of that preparation.
“The tour gives our supporters a chance to see the team up close, no matter how far away from Anfield they might live.”
