And why shouldn’t he be?

Hopefully such praise will see Coutinho finally get back into the Brazil national team set-up after being inexplicably left out of the Selecao’s squad for the World Cup in 2014 despite a quite brilliant season.

Thanks to another stellar season for Coutinho, he’s finally been selected but the £8.5 million Liverpool actually paid for him back in 2013 looks an ever more brilliant bargain by the day.

“Oh yes [I like Coutinho] — no doubt, no doubt,” Pele told the Press Association via ESPN.

“He is an excellent player and intelligent, but we have a lot of individuals in Brazil. Unfortunately we cannot play with all the players we have.”

And looking ahead to the north-west derby tomorrow with United, Pele said: “It is going to be a great game, no doubt about that. This a top fixture and good to see.”

It’s sure to be a feisty match but we hopefully we will be able to continue our good run of form and dominate a Manchester United side who have looked incredibly poor all season.

Coutinho is likely to be crucial to any potential win and will be looking to add to his five goals and four assists so far this season.
