The Welshman made his debut for the Shrimps against Carlisle United on Saturday, and saw his team come from behind to claim a 1-1 draw which leaves them 14th in League Two, nine points adrift of the play-offs.

Ward joined us from non-league Wrexham back in 2012, with a fee – according to the Daily Star – believed to be around £100,000.

He’s since featured on multiple occasions for the Reds’ youth and reserve teams, before making the step up to the first-team squad this season – appearing in the match-day squad on 19 occasions as back-up to Simon Mignolet.

While he’s yet to feature in a competitive first-team fixture for us, he did enjoy a late 10 minute cameo during a friendly against Preston North End during our last pre-season campaign.

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley, who was quoted by the Star, said: “Danny is a highly regarded young goalkeeper and we look forward to working with him over the next few weeks.”
