Bruce Grobbelaar (Zimbabwe)
The veteran ‘keeper played over 600 games for us between 1980 and 1994, winning six first division titles and the 1984 European Cup. His record of success allows him to narrowly edge out Pepe Reina.
Mark Lawrenson (Republic of Ireland)
We’ve not been burdened by a whole lot of great right-backs in recent years, and Lawrenson is still by far and away the pick of the bunch. The Irishman was a five time first division winner, and lifted the 1984 European Cup.
John Arne Riise (Norway)
The flame-haired full-back was a popular figure at Anfield, and is among those that will return to the club for the charity game this weekend. He made over 300 appearances for the Reds, scoring 30 goals in all competitions.
Daniel Agger (Denmark)
Another extremely popular player at Anfield. There were more than a few Liverpool fans who were disappointed to see him go last summer, after he’d played over 200 games and established his loyalty with several tattoos.
Sami Hyypia (Finland)
One of the heroes of our 2005 Champions League success, as well as the treble of 2001. The Finn was a near ever-present during his time at the club, providing Jamie Carragher with the perfect defensive partner.
Xabi Alonso (Spain)
The Spaniard worked well alongside captain Steven Gerrard, and was another member of our 2005 Champions League side. Since leaving he’s continued a wonderful career with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Spain.
Jan Molby (Denmark)
The winner of 11 major honours during his time with Liverpool, including three first division titles and three FA Cups. The Dane edges out the likes of Dietmar Hamann and Javier Mascherano for this spot in the team.
Dirk Kuyt (Netherlands)
The scorer of 71 goals in 286 games for Liverpool, the Dutchman struck for the Reds in the 2007 Champions League final, but had to work until 2012 for his only piece of silverware with the club – the League Cup.
Steve Heighway (Republic of Ireland)
The iconic winger just gets in ahead of Luis Garcia, and makes it two Irishmen in the team. The scorer of 50 goals in 329 league games for the Reds, and the winner of five European titles, including two European Cups.
Fernando Torres (Spain)
The Spaniard’s partnership with Steven Gerrard became an integral part of Liverpool’s side under Rafael Benitez. He scored 81 goals in 142 games before leaving in a £50m move to Chelsea in January 2011.
Luis Suarez (Uruguay)
Torres’ replacement was so good that he was able to surpass his goal record. Suarez bagged 82 goals in 133 matches before making a £75m switch to Barcelona last summer. One of the deadliest strikers ever!
