However, even the most ardent of Reds’ fans would struggle to find a convincing case for us deserving to win this afternoon. We were 3-0 down before Daniel Sturridge came on and added some fresh impotence to our attack.

Jordan Henderson was able to pull a goal back with 15 minutes remaining, only for Emre Can’s red card to all but end our hopes. Arsenal completed the job in stoppage time and you can see the full set of match clips below:

We had goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to thank for not falling behind early on. The Belgian made a number of impressive saves, including this brilliant stop to deny Aaron Ramsey…

Liverpool should have taken advantage by scoring the opening goal. Lazar Markovic looked set to lay in Sterling for the opening goal, only to over-hit the pass and leave his teammate with too much to do.

Tempers began to flair as the first-half sparked into life, with international teammates Olivier Giroud and Mamadou Sakho clearly putting all thoughts of friendship to one side…

Hector Bellerin grabbed the opening goal, somewhat against the run of play, with eight minutes to play in the first-half. He cut inside from his full-back position before unleashing an impressive effort into the corner of the goal…

Three minutes later and it was two. Mesut Ozil with an impressive free-kick round the Liverpool wall and past Mignolet.

Out first-half humiliation was complete in stoppage time as Alexis Sanchez slammed home after we once again gave the ball away in midfield…

Liverpool improved after the break and deservedly clawed one back through a Jordan Henderson penalty. Bellerin also might have been sent-off, with the young defender already on a yellow card at the time of this challenge.

Emre Can did receive his marching orders, receiving a second yellow card after this attempted tackle…

Ten-man Liverpool stood little chance of fighting their way back in the remaining minutes and sure enough the Gunners still had time to add insult to injury – wrapping up the points through Olivier Giroud…
