Our £24 million summer signing has failed to recover in time from a groin injury and the Liverpool Echo believe he will sit out the crucial match on Wednesday night after he failed to take part in training on Tuesday.

Lallana initially picked up the injury during the 2-1 defeat with Manchester United and despite missing out on England’s recent international fixtures as well as the 4-1 defeat to Arsenal, he is sill not yet ready to return to action.

This is just the latest fitness issue of Lallana since he moved to Anfield in the summer with the 26-year-old suffering knee ligament damage in pre-season as well as a number of ailments throughout the campaign.

He’s made a not too shabby 28 starts this campaign, according to the Echo, but in 15 of these he has been taken off before the end of the game.

Meanwhile, in terms of his attacking prowess, Lallana has managed a rather average looking five goals and three assists.
