Mignolet starred with three decisive saves as Liverpool beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at Ewood Park. He made a brilliant diving save to deny Tom Cairney, when the midfielder unleashed from range. From the resulting corner, he got down well to tip Ben Marshall’s effort onto the post. And he was there agains in stoppage time, getting down quickly to deny Rovers goalkeeper Simon Eastwood, who was up from the back in the final seconds.
Coutinho produced the decisive moment however, scoring the only goal twenty minutes from time. It was a wonderful finish from the Brazilian, one that the fans absolutely loved!
Johnson was solid at the back, while Allen also impressed after a shaky start. Sakho limped off through injury early on after picking up a hamstring injury.
Here’s what Twitter had to say!
Simon Mignolet
Mignolet was great, everything else was a bit meh. Take it though.

Massive result for Lfc. Well done Mignolet! Sterling & Coutinho gave the attack the penetration it needed 2nd half.
— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) April 8, 2015
2 good Mignolet saves at that the start of the 2nd half denies Cairney from 25 yards, and Marshall from a corner

Don't forget the Mignolet saves today! It was vital and is the reason we are in the semis! He backed up big talk after our loss to Arsenal

Philippe Coutinho
Coutinho didn't just apply the all-important finish, he had the most shots (6) – double any other player and the joint-most tackles (4)

Cup semi finals for Liverpool!!! @Phil_Coutinho scores the big gols!!!

Coutinho has saved me a long trip to Hull next Saturday. (It's not Hull I'm objecting to, but the length of the journey).
— Miguel Delaney (@MiguelDelaney) April 8, 2015
That finish from Coutinho – if someone did that in the school yard we'd have punished them. "No blasties!"

Glen Johnson
I know it was Blackburn, but Glen Johnson actually look bothered tonight. Good shift for someone who doesn't play much.

Joe Allen
Joe Allen just tried a nutmeg.
He failed.
— Paddy Power (@paddypower) April 8, 2015
BT Sport 'experts' seriously suggesting that the Joe Allen 'handball' was a penalty. Football punditry is beyond dreadful.

Joe Allen was excellent today. He must be annoying to play against.
— The Football Front (@ReviewFootball) April 8, 2015
Mamadou Sakho
Sakho limping for Liverpool and surely going off. He will be replaced by their only remaining centre back, Andy from the canteen.
— Paddy Power (@paddypower) April 8, 2015
Blackburn nearly took advantage of a seemingly unfocused Liverpool back-four, but Sakho prevented a shot.
— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) April 8, 2015
@TeleFootball How a 'professional' football pundit would suggest Sakho's injury is a blessing is beyond me.No longer following the telegraph
— Tom O'Sullivan (@tomosullivan93) April 8, 2015
The number of people who watch and talk about football for a living who still think Sakho's rubbish is fucking ridiculous.
