Could this ever happen?

Liverpool fans are again being told they’ll lose Raheem Sterling this summer, as media speculation linking the Reds with a move for Arsenal’s Theo Walcott continues to grow.

The media was dominated by stories of Sterling’s apparent unrest at Anfield last week, while the player himself said that he was flattered by potential interest in his signature, interest that has come most significantly from the Gunners.

His damaging interview with the BBC, in which that was just one of a number of startling revelations, strongly hinted that a possible swap deal involving both players could be possible in the summer, with Walcott also thought to be looking for a fresh start.

The Daily Star have seemingly put one and one together with this ‘exclusive’ that was published late last night. They suggest that Liverpool could accept a deal in the region of £20m plus Walcott for their 20-year-old forward.

They site Sterling’s apparent desire to return to the capital – where he once played for Queens Park Rangers – as well as the fact that Walcott, 26, has fallen out of favour at the Emirates, amidst a contract storm of his own.

Could this ever happen? It’s certainly not as plain and simple as the Star would have you believe. Swap deals are notoriously difficult as BOTH players have to agree terms on the move.

What’s more, Brendan Rodgers has categorically stated that Sterling will not be leaving this summer… (via Daily Mail)
