Liverpool fans and neutrals alike react to the clash…
It’s easy to overact in circumstances like this. One poor season summed up by one disappointing day should not ruin the legacy of club-captain Steven Gerrard, nor take away anything that Brendan Rodgers achieved last season.

However, even the most loyal of Reds could not deny the fact that Gerrard, an iconic figure who has won us a multitude of games including an FA Cup final on his own, had a bad afternoon at Wembley against Aston Villa.
Nor would they attempt to claim that Rodgers, who masterminded our second place finish in the league last season – an incredible achievement considering our record in recent years – didn’t get it wrong with his team selection.
The instant pain in the aftermath of a defeat can lead to people saying things they might later regret, particularly in this social media age.
In the tweets below we aim to reflect the general consensus from a clearly distraught set of supporters…
I mean, fairplay to Villa and all that.. But we were absolutely shocking. No passion. No desire. Shocking. #rantover.

No desire whatsoever. Turned up to a semi thinking we were already in the final. Love Rodgers but did he forget how to use subs? #LFC

No commitment or desire from the entire team. We were lucky to reach the semis, we’ve been average.

Another day, another Merseyside manager contradiction as Brendan Rodgers says Steven Gerrard was "excellent" & #LFC wanted to win "too much"

Weekly reminder:
#LFC supporters who fairly criticize the manager and direction of club love Liverpool as much as those who choose not to.

#RodgersOut Brenda claims the occasion was too big for us, and every player gave their all. Who is he kidding? #LFC
— Mick Wall (@Warburydude) April 19, 2015
Anyone who tweets #RodgersOut is a clown who needs to get a grip. Look how far he's taken us, pipe down #LFC

Whether it's a committee shake up or brining in a dof. Rodgers would surely have to accept taking less responsibility on transfers now. #LFC

Congrats to @avfcofficial on reaching the #FACupFinal from a #LFC fan. Best team won on the day, now go & win the cup!
