Liverpool will welcome back Divock Origi this summer, hoping the Belgian striker can make an immediate impact after a reasonably successful season on loan at former club Lille, which has thus far yielded eight goals.

Origi, who turned 20 last week, looks to be eagerly anticipating his return. So much so, that he’s been regularly quizzing international teammate Simon Mignolet on life with the Reds, as he aims to get a head-start on the competition.

Quite who he’ll be up against next season in his pursuit of a striking spot still remains somewhat unclear. Daniel Sturridge has struggled with injuries so far this season, while there is plenty of speculation surround the Liverpool futures of Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini (via the Daily Mirror).

Speaking about his Liverpool future, Origi told our official website: “Just some typical questions about the club, the atmosphere, how the club is doing and about the life in Liverpool because it’s a big change for me.

“Simon has helped me a lot and given me a lot of information about the city. He told me it’s a nice city and advised me on where you can live and the nice places to go. He told me he really likes it and feels at home there.”

“He told me it is a special feeling, but that’s something I knew already. He told me before every game there is a fantastic atmosphere from the supporters and everybody at the club, which helps you to play even better. It makes me excited because it’s something I want to experience.”

Origi first came to Liverpool’s attention at last summer’s World Cup, where he scored the only goal of the game to beat Russia in the group stage. He continued to be preferred to Romelu Lukaku until the Belgians were knocked out of the competition by Argentina.
