Could there be any truth in these tantalising rumours?
Reports in this morning’s national press are claiming that Liverpool are in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a potential summer move for Italian centre forward Ciro Immobile.

Let’s just dream, if only for a minute, that this isn’t complete and utter garbage from The Metro, who as we all know are hardly a reliable source for transfer tips, particularly as we close in on the summer window.
On paper, this would be the ideal solution to our problems. An out-and-out centre forward with a proven track record. Someone who, at 25, still has plenty of room to grow and improve, and someone who could be on the lookout for a move after struggling to settle in Germany.
We’ve had success in the past with players who are having their quality held back – think Daniel Sturridge at Chelsea or Philippe Coutinho at Inter Milan – and there’s no doubt that Immobile could fit that same category.
He scored 23 goals in 34 games last season while with Torino, finishing the season as the league’s top goalscorer. He has netted ten in 26 games for a struggling Dortmund side this term, although seven of them have come in the cup competitions.
The Metro, backed up by sources in Italy, believe that a deal could be done for somewhere in the region of £17m. But unfortunately we do, of course, have our doubts with this.
There is certainly no evidence to support Liverpool being in talks with the player, or indeed having made contact of any kind with Dortmund.
In addition, while a striker is likely to be a high priority this summer, our first concern must surely be to find a replacement for the departing Steven Gerrard. If any pre-transfer window deal is going to be done, it will be in that area, not up front.
