In news that will be music to the ears of most Liverpool fans, Kop boss Brendan Rodgers has promised to spend his summer transfer budget on experienced players that can make an immediate impact.

One of the biggest criticisms of the Northern Irishman so far this season has been that so few of last year’s signings have become established members of the first-team, with Alberto Moreno and Emre Can the only regulars.
The vast majority of Liverpool fans were pleased that we picked up prospects such as Lazar Markovic and Divock Origi, but it’s easy to understand their frustrations, particularly after the loss of star man Luis Suarez.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s game at West Bromwich Albion, Rodgers admitted: “Last season we had a really good starting 11 but look at our depth and we suffered. We addressed that last summer but indirectly we missed out on the starting eleven because we’ve lost our two top strikers.”
The loss of Suarez in a £75m deal is certainly something we’re still struggling to recover from, while Daniel Sturridge’s injury problems have further hurt our standing, with the England man starting just seven league games.
“So this year we’ve enough potential and players we can develop and improve but I think it is definitely starters we need and we have to be really forceful to get it,” Rodgers continued.
The boss also praised his relationship with our American owners, claiming that they’re well aware of what has to happen this summer.
“I have a strong relationship with the owners. They understand this was going to be a process,” he added.
“This isn’t a group of ready made players used to winning. I’ve not taken over a machine that for 10 years was winning trophies.”
