Can we beat Tony Pulis’s men? Yes! Will we? Perhaps only if your players combine as a team and come out on top in their respective individual battles.

Here are five of the most important…

Martin Skrtel vs Saido Berahino

The Slovakian is the leader of the defence, so it would not be a surprise should he be left to deal with the Baggies’ most dangerous attacking threat. Saido Berahino has 12 Premier League goals this season, and has arguably been their best player. He has the potential to make something special happen, so Skrtel will have to be able to keep him quiet, and perhaps cut off his supply.

Darren Fletcher vs Jordan Henderson

The two captains both have the quality to dictate the game, so whoever has the upper hand in this clash could well influence the overall result. Fletcher has brought a stability to the club since his move from Manchester United, but Henderson – who will be celebrating signing his new contract – has excelled as our leader. His performance against Newcastle was one of maturity, and his ball to Sterling for the first goal was inch-perfect.

Joleon Lescott vs Raheem Sterling

The former Everton defender has looked vulnerable in the past few years, and especially against pace. Therefore, if he gets the opportunity, you would expect to see Sterling drop a couple of yards deeper when receiving the ball, or be asked to run onto a pass, so he can utilise his full acceleration, hopefully to devastating effect.

Philippe Coutinho vs Gareth McAuley

At 35, Gareth McAuley is an experienced international defender, and he will need to use all of his knowledge to deal with our Brazilian wonderkid. Coutinho has been in tremendous form lately, and has proved he can score from anywhere. We’d love to see him add to his (meagre?) four top flight goals so far.
