Liverpool dominated the game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday but failed to find a way past our determined opponents, while we needed a late goal line clearance from Lovren to be certain of a point.

For the Croatian defender, who has had a mixed first season in the Liverpool red, the game at the Hawthorns represented arguably his best performance for the club. The 25-year-old made several crucial interventions and will now be hoping to build-on that against a resurgent Hull side.

The Tigers ended a run of six games without a win with victory over Crystal Palace yesterday and still have plenty to play for as they attempt to steer clear of the relegation places.

Speaking ahead of the game, Lovren told our official website: “We’re disappointed that we couldn’t get the three points [against West Brom].

“It was a tough game for us, difficult to play against 11 players behind the ball. We had some good opportunities and didn’t score.

“It’s better to have a point than to lose – they also had a couple of chances on the counter-attack – but of course it was a disappointment for us.

“It was difficult after the game against Aston Villa. Everyone was dreaming that we would win the trophy, and we lost.

“Of course it was difficult. But we knew that we needed to move on and we were preparing well all week. Now we need to focus on the game on Tuesday against Hull City.

“It will be a typical game, similar to today. We’ll need to be patient again and wait for our opportunities to score. Hopefully we’ll get the three points.”
