The 25-year-old has failed to live up the standards of last season, having missed nearly five months in the early part of the campaign. And while it appeared that he may be nearing a regular return to the first-team, he suffered a setback during the FA Cup quarter-final replay with Blackburn at the start of the month.

Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce tweeted that Rodgers is aware that Liverpool need to enter the transfer market for another forward come the summer.
Rodgers: “It’s certainly an area we need to address come the summer. We have a top class striker here in Daniel but he also needs help.” — James Pearce (@JamesPearceEcho) April 27, 2015
