Brendan Rodgers heaps praise on Simon Mignolet after another clean sheet

The 25-year-old has failed to live up the standards of last season, having missed nearly five months in the early part of the campaign. And while it appeared that he may be nearing a regular return to the first-team, he suffered a setback during the FA Cup quarter-final replay with Blackburn at the start of the month.

According to Merseyside football journalist Tony Barrett, Rodgers couldn’t reveal when the England international will be back in the fold.

Our recognised strikers have arguably been the reason for our struggles in trying to emulate the success of last season – where in the Premier League, Sturridge and Luis Suarez hit 52 goals between them. However, this campaign the entire team are five strikes short of the lethal double-act’s tally. Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce tweeted that Rodgers is aware that Liverpool need to enter the transfer market for another forward come the summer.
