Our hopes of finishing the season strongly have been dealt a major blow, after Brendan Rodgers revealed that Daniel Sturridge is now likely to be out until the end of the season.

The England international’s campaign has severely blighted by injuries, having spent almost all of five months on treatment table before returning towards the end of January. And after a brief spell in the first-team, he has been missing since the victory over Blackburn at the start of April.
According to the Daily Mirror, when Rodgers was asked about the forward, he failed to offer a timescale for which he will be returning, thus suggesting that we will have to deal with our final five games without Sturridge.
“When fit, he’s been brilliant. He’s still not available,” he said.
The news is extremely worrying as our slim hopes of earning a place in next season’s Champions League looked reliant upon us finding some form urgently, and hitting the back of the net with ruthless regularity until the end of the campaign.
Liverpool fans have reacted to the news that the 25-year-old could be out until the summer, with a sense of resignation about our season.
The season is over for the entire squad not just Daniel Sturridge.
