Three days after the goalless draw with West Brom, Brendan Rodgers has had to face up to another game without a goal, and suggested that we never looked capable of finding the back of the net during Tuesday’s defeat to Hull.

Like Saturday’s game at the Hawthorns, we dominated possession and had more attempts than Steve Bruce’s men, but our inability to properly test Steve Harper saw us punished, as Michael Dawson’s headed home the only goal of the game eight minutes before half-time.
Without Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli was given another chance to start in attack. However, the Italian was replaced by Rickie Lambert midway through the second-half due to a foot injury. According to the Liverpool Echo, Rodgers was happy with our performance in general, but admitted that we lacked that moment of quality when it really mattered.
“We didn’t look like scoring really, to be honest. We had some good moments, and had enough of the ball, but we never really threatened the goal.
“We had enough of the game, between the boxes we were OK, but in that final third we just couldn’t make that breakthrough,” he said.
