The Liverpool Echo confirmed on Sunday that the Reds are stepping up their pursuit of a ‘marquee’ centre-forward, to help ease the burden of Daniel Sturridge’s injury problems, and they believe that the South Korean international could be that man.

With Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini managing just eight goals between them this season, Brendan Rodgers is crying out for some fresh inspiration in attack and seemingly wants to add to the signing of Divock Origi, who will return from his loan spell with Lille at the end of the season.

We’ve already been linked with a number of top names, including Memphis Depay, who has bagged 27 goals in all competitions so far this season. However, the Daily Star believes that Manchester United are now favourites for his signature.

The Echo believes that Min, an attacking midfielder by trade, could be available for around £15m this summer. He’s scored 17 goals in all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen this season and provided four assists.

At just 22, he’s very much in the mould of a Brendan Rodgers signing – someone with proven quality but also wonderful potential and room to grow. A South Korean international since 2010, he already has 42 caps.

We’ll keep an interested eye on this one to see what, if anything develops…
