Liverpool transfer rumours

The 25 year-old scored a brilliant 21 times in the Premier League last term, but has struggled with a series of injuries in the current campaign – with the first sustained on international duty with England back in August.

His four goals in seven top flight starts make him our fifth top scorer, and to extrapolate that strike rate over a 38 game season would result in 21 goals once again – which would surely have made a massive difference to our season.

Raheem Sterling leads Liverpool players in the Premier League with his tally of seven goals, and it’s clear that we have suffered without Sturridge and Luis Suarez, sold to Barcelona last summer, who combined for 52 goals in total in 2013-14.

When fit, Sturridge is a deadly finisher, and should this operation resolve his muscular issues, our attack could return to its fluid best.

Let’s not forget the superb understanding developed between Sturridge and Sterling last season, or that Mario Balotelli showed most promise for Liverpool when played alongside a dynamic partner in Sturridge.

While the current season might be over for him, let’s hope he’s back to his best in 2015-16. A fit Daniel Sturridge could make a huge difference.
