The pilot and plane company who flew over Anfield right before our game with Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, have provided a bit more information about the people who were behind the stunt.

Luckily, Steven Gerrard’s last-gasp header meant that the protest against manager Brendan Rodgers failed to overshadow the game itself, and the good feeling on Merseyside after it. However, attention has now turned to the culprits.
The support for Rodgers since led many to suggest that it was either rivals fans from Manchester United – whose slip up later in the day meant that we have a little more hope of snatching a place in the Premier League’s top four – attempting to cause disharmony, or betting company Paddy Power, who have become famous for their publicity stunts.
According to the Liverpool Echo, however, Andrew Nicholls, who appears to have been the pilot, has suggested that while he cannot reveal the identity of the person behind the idea, but that neither United nor Paddy Power were to blame.

AirAds – the company the plane belonged to – has suggested that it was our own fans that paid for the protest.
