Neville was discussing the importance of iconic shirt numbers and their unique speciality within each club. He was listing a series of number 7’s from both club’s history, before Carragher pointed out that he’d missed Owen.

Owen, now a pundit himself for BT Sport, only managed 31 Premier League appearances during his three years at Old Trafford, scoring just five goals. He joined Stoke City in 2012 but retired a year later.

He scored 158 goals in 297 games during his time at Liverpool – mostly wearing the number ten – but his career took a turn for the worse after he left Anfield. He spent a year with Real Madrid before joining Newcastle, where his injury problems truly took over.
