Brendan Rodgers is (hopefully) on the lookout for midfield reinforcements this summer, as with Steven Gerrard joining LA Galaxy at the end of the season there is going to be a big hole in our squad to be filled.

Cabaye is only valued at around £10m according to reports in The Metro and he could be a useful stop-gap solution to losing Gerrard, especially if Rodgers wants to focus the majority of his budget on a new striker (via Daily Express).

The former Newcastle United midfielder has struggled to hold down a first-team place so far this season, starting just eleven league games. He’s now admitted that he may be forced to leave in order to get first-team football.

Cabaye, 29, has made 36 league appearances for PSG in total. However, it was at Newcastle where he was arguably most successful, playing 79 times and scoring 17 goals as he became the midfield heartbeat of their team.

Speaking about his future this week, he said: “It is a distinct moment in my career. I have never been through this before. One has to accept it but also try to change it. It is super important for me, I want to play at Euro 2016.

“I need to speak to the [France] boss [Deschamps] and my representatives to see what is best for me.”
