We counted nine in total from the Premier League era and we’ve ranked them in the list below, based on their combined success for the two clubs. See if you agree below…

9) Victor Moses

Joined Chelsea from Wigan in 2012 but has only made 23 Premier League appearances thus far. Joined us on loan last season, playing 19 times in the league and scoring once. Now on loan again, this time at Stoke City.

8) Nicolas Anelka

Spent a year on loan at Liverpool during the 2001-02 season. Decided to join Man City upon his return to PSG and followed that with spells at Fenerbahce and Bolton. Arrived at Chelsea in 2008, scoring 59 times in four years.

7) Raul Meireles

Spent a single season at both clubs, playing 44 times for Liverpool and 48 times for Chelsea. He helped the latter win both the FA Cup and the Champions League, although he sat out the European final through suspension.

6) Boudewijn Zenden

Spent two years at Chelsea in the early 2000s, playing 59 times and scoring four goals. He joined Middlesbrough and impressed enough to earn a move to Liverpool in 2005. Spent two years with us, winning the FA Cup.

5) Yossi Benayoun

Joined Liverpool from West Ham in 2007 and enjoyed a successful, albeit trophyless spell at Liverpool, playing 134 times and scoring 29 goals. He spent three years at Chelsea but made just 24 appearances in total.

4) Glen Johnson

Spent much of his early career with Chelsea, having joined them from West Ham in 2003. Played 41 league games before joining Portsmouth. He switched to Liverpool in 2009 and has since made almost 200 appearances.

3) Joe Cole

The midfielder enjoyed an excellent spell with Chelsea, playing 280 games and scoring 39 goals, winning ten major honours. Unfortunately, it never worked out for him at Anfield. He played just 42 times, scoring five.

2) Daniel Sturridge

He never really got a chance at Chelsea. He managed 63 Premier League games in four years, scoring 13 goals. He quickly surpassed that at Liverpool, scoring 35 times in his first 55 games. Injury has sadly held him up recently.

1) Fernando Torres

El Nino bagged an astonishing 81 goals in just 142 games for Liverpool, becoming a firm fan favourite. He stunned everybody by joining Chelsea in 2011 for £50m. He struggled in London, scoring 45 in 172, but did win both the Champions League and the Europa League. Was welcomed back during the Anfield Charity match this year.
