Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is remaining positive following his hip surgery this week, despite learning that he will be out until at least September, with a four month period of recovery time an absolute requirement.

Sturridge posted a celebratory picture on his Instagram account on Friday, along with the caption: “With the genius himself, Dr. Bryan Kelly. Thanks for doing a great job on my hip!!! Everything this man has explained to me gives me assurance that I’ll be back to my best in no time!! Thank you.”

Indeed, there are a lot more positives than negatives here for us supporters, despite losing our top striker for the start of next season. According to The Guardian, Kelly has addressed an issue that could be linked to the various muscle problems Sturridge has suffered this season, hopefully putting them to bed for good.

Liverpool’s medical department view the process as a massive success and it was pleasing to see Sturridge wearing a beaming smile as he posed with Kelly for the picture you can see below.

It will be a huge boost to Brendan Rodgers, who will be desperate to see our £140,000-per-week forward fit and firing. Although, as The Guardian also explains, it’s unlikely to change our transfer plans, particularly our need for a top level centre-forward who can score regularly.

Despite starting just seven times in the Premier League this term, Sturridge has scored 40 goals in just 66 games since joining the Reds from Chelsea in January 2012, with 24 of those coming in last season’s impressive campaign.
