Steven Gerrard, who played his final Premier League game on Merseyside against Crystal Palace on Saturday, finished the afternoon by saying an emotional goodbye to everyone associated with the football club, who have had the joy of watching him play for almost 17 years.
Tributes to the Liverpool captain have been raining in ever since the full-time whistle, including those from a number of his former teammates.
Suarez, who is now playing for Barcelona following a £75m move last summer, called Gerrard ‘one of the greatest’. Torres, who is now on loan at boyhood club Atletico Madrid from AC Milan, added that it was an ‘absolute pleasure’ to play alongside him. While Kuyt, who is currently with Fenerbahce, said playing with him was a ‘privilege’.

Still hard to believe you played your last match for the Reds at Anfield. But it was a privilege to play alongside you.
