Respected journalists criticise Raheem Sterling and suggest we offload quickly

The 20-year-old’s future – which has long been a topic for debate, after he rejected a new contract midway through the season – had been put on the back burner until the end of the campaign. But, with just a relatively meaningless game against Stoke ahead, the England international had scheduled to meet Rodgers and Ian Ayre later this week.

But, according to BBC Sport, he has already decided that he wishes to leave Anfield, and will not be signing a new deal, which currently expires in two years time.

His actions, which have played out in a very public manner, have been criticised by fans and former players alike, forcing his agent Aidy Ward to suggest that the reports have not been accurate, though he failed to dismiss rumours that he still wishes to move on, the Liverpool Echo report.

“The story has been somewhat blown out of proportion. Raheem and his representatives have a meeting scheduled with Liverpool later this week, and we will take proceedings from there,” the statement read.

Most fans have completely had enough of the Sterling contract saga, and are caring less and less every day if he stays at the club. His performances over the past few months hardly warrant the £100k-per-week he’s already turned down anyway (via BBC Sport).
