The Reds will attempt to ‘extend the olive branch’ to Raheem Sterling this week, as reports in the Daily Mirror confirm that the Liverpool hierarchy have not yet given up hope of convincing him to stay.

According to the Mirror, Sterling will meet with our representatives later this week for showdown talks. The youngster will be told again about his importance to the team, as well as the prospect of having a side build around him over the coming years.
But regardless of the outcome, it seems unlikely that we will part ways with our Young Player of the Year in the near future, with our bosses instead prepared to make him sit out the rest of his contract, which currently has two years remaining.
The Mirror says that Manchester City are preparing a £40m bid to test our resolve, despite chairman Tom Werner and principal owner John W Henry proving that they’re prepared to play hard-ball over any potential sales, just as they did with Luis Suarez two years ago.
Werner and Henry are keen to avoid extending the current media furore surrounding Sterling and his representatives and will use Friday’s meeting as an attempt to make peace.
If City can convince Liverpool to sell, it is believed that they will offer Sterling a deal worth around £150,000-per-week, significantly more than what is currently on the table from us.
This one certainly looks set to run and run all summer, unless our owners can pull off some sort of minor miracle later this week. Until then, we’re just going to have to wait and see.
