The Daily Mirror has drawn attention to Jose Enrique’s Instagram page – clearly, they haven’t learned – where the Spaniard has detailed what looks to be a wonderful end-of-season party, attended by the vast majority of the first-team squad.

However, the Mirror has also pointed out several notable absentees, including club captain Steven Gerrard and Mario Balotelli. No doubt the former has had a very busy week building up to his final game and imminent move to LA, while one assumes that the latter is feeling under the weather…

But it’s the absence of Raheem Sterling that is perhaps most telling of all. It’s impossible to guess what Sterling’s teammates will have been thinking this week, watching the accusations fly from both sides as his contract saga rumbles on, but they’ve clearly been put off enough not to invite him.

Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year Coutinho was clearly the toast of the afternoon’s gathering, which included food, drinks and even dancing if Enrique’s Instagram page is anything to go by. Watch out for the latter at the bottom of the page.
