While Suso is struggling in Milan, Andy Carroll is sitting in a treatment room in London and a whole host of our former favourites are preparing to welcome us to Stoke on Sunday, these twelve players that come to our list via the Liverpool Echo, have all been tasting success.

Take a look…

12) Christian Poulsen (Copenhagen)  Games: 13  Goals: 1

The 35-year-old endured a short and forgettable spell at Liverpool but continues to enjoy success back in Denmark. After rejoining his former club late last year, he’s since guided them to the Danish cup final.

11) Dani Pacheco (Real Betis)  Games: 24  Goals: 0

This former Liverpool academy graduate never got much of a chance at Anfield. The goals have not come any more freely in the Spanish second division but he has helped guide Betis to an immediate promotion back to La Liga.

10) Maxi Rodriguez (Newell’s Old Boys)  Games: 19  Goals: 11

The Argentine was something of a favourite at Anfield and many people will be pleased to see him doing well. His club side might have struggled, finishing in mid-table, but he ended the campaign as their top scorer.

9) Raul Meireles (Fenerbahce)  Games: 24  Goals: 2

Fenerbahce currently sit three points behind leaders Galatasaray in the league table, while the two teams will also contents a cup final before the season comes to a close. The midfield hard-man has played an important role.

8) Daniel Ayala (Middlesbrough)  Games: 37  Goals: 5

The 24-year-old only played five times in the league for Liverpool but has impressed in the North East this season. He’s helped Borough reach the Championship play-off final and will be looking to seal a return to the top flight.

7) Peter Gulasci (Red Bull Salzburg)  Games: 41  Goals: 0

The Hungarian has been a near ever-present in an impressive Salzburg-side, who are on the verge of an Austrian league and cup double. They also reached the latter stages of the Europa League. Would we take him back?

6) Dirk Kuyt (Fenerbahce)  Games: 33  Goals: 10

The second Fenerbahce player to appear on this list and easily the most prolific. You always know what you’re going to get from the hard-working Dutchman and that’s not changed since he left Liverpool back in 2012.

5) John Arne Riise (APOEL)  Games: 29  Goals: 6

Scored a stunning free-kick in his side’s 4-2 cup final over AEL Limassol win earlier this week. APOEL remains on course to win the league as well and complete the double for the second successive year.

4) Robbie Keane (LA Galaxy)  Games: 37  Goals: 23

The Republic of Ireland international has scored goals for fun since moving to the MLS – with the numbers above representing his return from the 2014 season. How many will he get with Steven Gerrard alongside him?

3) Xabi Alonso (Bayern Munich)  Games: 39  Goals: 4

Alonso could have been forgiven for easing towards retirement after leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season. Instead, he joined another European giant and ensure that he was a crucial part of their team. Still a great player.

2) Javier Mascherano (Barcelona)  Games: 44  Goals: 0

The defensive midfielder turned centre-back has been as reliable as ever for Barcelona this season, coming off the back of an outstanding World Cup in which he guided Argentine to the final. Could end the season with the treble.

1) Luis Suarez (Barcelona)  Games: 41  Goals: 24

Fair play to him, he left Liverpool to win trophies and he’s surely going to get his wish. La Liga is already in the bag, while two big finals are still to come. His partnership with Neymar and Lionel Messi is frightening.
