The Montenegrin has struggled to make an impact since making the move from Fiorentina in 2013, scoring just eight Premier League goals. However, his influence has been hugely limited thus far due to injury and the general opinion appears to be that the 25-year-old would thrive away from the Etihad Stadium.

Indeed, his record when starting games for City – 11 goals in 18 games – is fairly impressive. If he could keep himself fit and play for a team that would utilise him more regularly, then he could be the next big thing.

We all know that we’re in desperate need of some reinforcements up front and Jovetic could be a very astute signing from Brendan Rodgers, particularly if he can get a reduction on the £22m City paid for his services.

Jovetic’s agent, Fali Ramadani, has recently suggested that his client would be open to a move as well. In quotes taken by the Daily Mirror, he said: “Jovetic is happy at Manchester. But there is still a whole summer ahead of us, which means that there will be many weeks of hard work.”

We’ll watch this with interest…
