According to BBC Sport, the manager has suggested that other members of the squad are in a better frame of mind for the clash against Stoke.

“A lot been made of the last couple of weeks. We’ve got other young players very focused on the game,” he explained.

The 20-year-old’s future has overshadowed Steven Gerrard’s final game for us, and by putting him on the bench, Rodgers is hinting that we can deal without him.

BBC Sport reported earlier this week that the winger will not be signing a new deal at Anfield, and intended to inform the club’s hierarchy that he wished to leave, despite having another two years left on his current contract.

If he does not feature at the Britannia Stadium, then it could be possible that he has already played his final game for the club.

One player that has definitely played his final game for Liverpool is Glen Johnson, who is missing from the matchday squad and confirmed that he will be leaving in the summer.
