Former Brazil and Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho has suggested that Philippe Coutinho has all the makings of a star, should he move to the Nou Camp.

According to the Daily Mail, the 35-year-old – who is currently spending the twilight of his career in Mexico – believes that his countryman has enjoyed a wonderful season, despite our struggles, and deserves to be playing in a side befitting of his talent.

“He has been one of the best midfield players in Europe – and when you think he has been playing in a team that has not been performing well that is an even bigger achievement,” he explained.

“Playing with great players makes you better, I know that. Not only would he win trophies with Barcelona, but playing with Neymar, Messi, Suarez, Iniesta, is going to make him a better player,” he added.

Worryingly, Ronaldinho suggested that the Catalan giants may be looking to take a punt on the player in the near future, with one legend leaving the club in the summer, and another reaching the last years of his career.

“After all those years at the club Xavi has left and Iniestia is now in his 30s – they will need to address that. That is why I think Barcelona and Coutinho would be the perfect fit,” said Ronaldinho.

Luckily for the time-being, the La Liga champions are currently serving a transfer embargo that will prevent them purchasing any players until January of next year. While that may delay any bid for the magician, we need to do everything we can to ensure that he doesn’t follow Luis Suarez out of the door.

Luckily, he signed a new long-term contract midway through the season and is happy on Merseyside – so this isn’t something we need to worry about just yet.
