Lazar Markovic’s Liverpool future is in doubt this summer, just twelve months after he joined us from Benfica. That’s according to The Times, who believe that while we don’t doubt the youngster’s talent, we fear that he may never truly adapt to plying his trade in England.

It’s certainly been a disappointing first season on Merseyside for the 21-year-old Serbian, who featured just 19 times in the Premier League, scoring twice. He made 31 appearances in all competitions but hasn’t completed a full 90 minutes of any game since mid-January.

According to The Times’ Tony Barrett, Markovic could be followed out of the Anfield exit door by Jose Enrique and Fabio Borini, who have both been told to find new clubs after starting just five Premier League games between them this season.

Borini is reportedly ready to accept that his time at the club is over, despite turning down a £14m move to Sunderland last season in order to fight for his place, while injury-plagued Enrique is also not in Rodgers’ plans.

In addition, Rickie Lambert will be allowed to seek more regular first-team football elsewhere, while Mario Balotelli will go if we are able to find a buyer. The Italian has long-since been written off as an ill-conceived gamble. Brad Jones and Glen Johnson – both out of contract next month – will also go.
