Predicting Liverpool’s FIFA 16 ratings after this season – Coutinho up, Balotelli down

FIFA 16 is trending today because the game makers have announced that the new version will include female teams for the first time. Good news, we think.

But how will the Liverpool squad rate following our inconsistent season?

We’ve had a go at predicting the new rating compared to their original FIFA 15 rating.

We haven’t included players who won’t or are at least highly unlikely to be the squad next season such as Brad Jones, Sebastian Coates and Steven Gerrard – sadly in the case of the latter.

We’ve ordered them from lowest to highest based on the FIFA 15 rating.

Jordon Ibe – FIFA 15 original rating: 67 – Prediction: 76

Ibe’s rating will fly after a brilliant loan spell and an impressive second half of the season with the first-team.

Javier Manquillo – FIFA 15 original rating: 70 – Prediction: 70

Manquillo didn’t play enough to dramatically affect his 70 rating.

Jon Flanagan – FIFA 15 original rating: 71 – Prediction: 71

The 71 from FIFA 15 was very harsh in the first place, so despite the fact he hasn’t played all year, we can’t imagine they’d demote him.

Fabio Borini – FIFA 15 original rating: 74 – Prediction: 72

Borini’s lack of goals, playing time and anything good this season will see his good work from the Sunderland loan spell diminished – likely in rating too.

Emre Can – FIFA 15 original rating: 74 – Prediction: 78

Can’s form at centre-back during the middle part of the season will surely see him boosted, but it’ll be interesting as to where FIFA will deem the German’s best position.

Rickie Lambert – FIFA 15 original rating: 76 – Prediction: 72

Lambert’s age and tame season should see his rating plummet, considering he was only awarded a 76 after a great season with Southampton last time around.

Glen Johnson – FIFA 15 original rating: 76 – Prediction: 72

Johnson’s age, injuries and performances will see him drop to the low 70s, undeniably.

Joe Allen – FIFA 15 original rating: 77 – Prediction: 76

Allen sadly didn’t do too much to boost his 77 rating this season, as his good performances were far outweighed by forgettable ones.

Jose Enrique – FIFA 15 original rating: 77 – Prediction: 70

The Spaniard is another who’ll drop, having seen his season decimated by injuries and uninspiring form.

Jordan Henderson – FIFA 15 original rating: 78 – Prediction: 83

Henderson’s going to get a real boost – we’re almost certain of that. He’s combined leadership skills with goals and assists – and he’s now comfortably our best central midfielder.

Kolo Toure – FIFA 15 original rating: 78 – Prediction: 76

Toure’s got a new one-year contract, but his legs are not what they were, and we can’t see him playing much next season if everyone’s fit.

Lazar Markovic – FIFA 15 original rating: 78 – Prediction: 77

The Serb’s been disappointing, but he’s not been given much chances either. Markovic is talented, but if he was only awarded a 78 after a £20m move, his rating won’t boost.

Alberto Moreno – FIFA 15 original rating: 78 – Prediction: 78

Moreno’s first season in England showed serious signs of promise, while not enough consistency to see him reach the 80s.

Lucas Leiva – FIFA 15 original rating: 79 – Prediction: 79

Lucas was terrific during most of his appearances in 2014/15, although his form dropped off after the Man. United defeat. Expect a similar rating in the new game.

Dejan Lovren – FIFA 15 original rating: 79 – Prediction: 78

Lovren’s improvement towards the end of last season will probably make up for his dire first six months, we hope.

Adam Lallana – FIFA 15 original rating: 79 – Prediction: 81

Lallana’s a better player than a 79 rating suggests. When fit in 2014/15, he proved that as well. We expect a small rise.

Raheem Sterling – FIFA 15 original rating: 80 – Prediction: 83

Sterling’s arguably been worse in 2014/15 than he was in 2013/14 – but the repeated £50m transfer rumours belong to a player who’ll be ranked in the early 80s – as does the fact he’s on the back-pages every day.

Martin Skrtel – FIFA 15 original rating: 81 – Prediction: 83

Skrtel’s our defensive leader, and a guaranteed starter. Statistically in terms of blocks and clearances he’s as good as anything in the Premier League, and will be rated as such in FIFA 16.

Coutinho – FIFA 15 original rating: 81 – Prediction: 85

Coutinho’s our best player, and deserves a rating aligned with some of the best playmakers in Europe. 85 is a little below that, but FIFA are always a little harsh with Liverpool, even our best players.

Mamadou Sakho – FIFA 15 original rating: 81 – Prediction: 81

Unlikely to see much of a switch for the French powerhouse – who’s been decent when fit. Let’s hope he keeps off the sidelines next term.

Mario Balotelli – FIFA 15 original rating: 82 – Prediction: 79

Despite his worldwide appeal, the Italian’s solo league goal in 2014/15 will see his rating cut by the game-makers. He’ll do well to stick in the 80s.

Simon Mignolet – FIFA 15 original rating: 82 – Prediction: 82

Thankfully, Mignolet’s superb calendar year form should see him retain his generous 82 from last time around.

Daniel Sturridge – FIFA 15 original rating: 83 – Prediction: 82

83 for Sturridge was woefully harsh, so despite the fact that his injury has seen his pedigree drop, there’s no way a player of his ability can be rated worse than 82.
