Adam Bogdan to Liverpool practically a done deal – keeper will sign July 1st

After wrapping up the Bosman signing of James Milner yesterday, it seems as though we’re dipping into the free transfer market once again to bolster our squad…

The Daily Mail reckon we’re very close to agreeing a deal for Bolton Wanderers keeper Adam Bogdan, the 27-year-old Hungarian keeper who’s available for nothing after running his contract down with the Championship outfit.

With Brad Jones leaving Liverpool this summer on the expiration of his own contract, we need a new backup for Belgian no.1 Simon Mignolet, who proved in the latter half of this season just gone that he’s good enough to keep his spot between the sticks in 2015/16.

Bogdan will hopefully prove a suitable bench option, and having done that job for Bolton for most of last term, he’ll be delighted to do it for Liverpool.

He actually played against us in the FA Cup for Bolton, where we eventually progressed on a replay. He was mightily impressive, although many Reds found it difficult to believe he was actually the reserve option to Andy Lonergan in the Championship.

Hopefully he’ll be an improvement on Jones, anyway – although really we’d have liked someone to come in and properly test Mignolet for the no.1 jersey.
