Here are twelve this to know about the guy who will possibly be our second summer signing:
Career:
- Bogdan began his career with Vasas, one of Hungary’s biggest clubs. He never played a first-team fixture for them, with his professional debut coming during a loan spell with minnows Vecsesi FC.
- He joined Bolton is August 2007, initially on a two-year contract. He had to wait until 2010 for his debut, although he did make a couple of appearances during a loan spell with Crewe a year earlier.
- He finished the 2010-11 season with nine Bolton appearances to his name. During the following campaign, he replaced Jussi Jaaskelainen as the club’s number one. He has since played 120 times in all competitions.
- He’s won 19 caps for Hungary, having made his debut for his country in 2011. Their current squad also includes former Liverpool reserve goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, who has been capped twice.
Memorable Moments:
- In January 2012 he was beaten by an overhit, wind assisted clearance from Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard. Thankfully for Bolton, they came from behind to win the game 2-1. Former Liverpool striker David Ngog scored one of the Wanderers’ goals.
- Later that month he saved a penalty from Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford. Bolton still lost the game 3-0.
- In May 2012, Bogdan won Bolton’s Player of the Season award, although his performances were unable to prevent his side from being relegated to the Championship.
- In 2015 he put in a Man of the Match performance as Bolton held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield in the FA Cup.
Other Information:
- The 27-year-old stands at an impressive 6 ft 4 and is adept at coming off his line to claim the ball.
- transfermarkt currently estimates his value at £1.76m. We’d of course be getting him for nothing, with his contract expiring at the start of next month.
- FIFA 15 gave Bogdan an ability rating of 70, one point less than the man he’d replace at Liverpool, Brad Jones.
- WhoScored consider his best attributes to be his shot stopping and concentration, while they highlight his main weakness as his distribution, particularly with his long-range passing.
