The striker will join us on a free transfer when his current deal expires at the end of the month, with the Clarets entitled to an unnamed compensation fee.

Ings, 22, has spent four years at Turf Moor, having joined Sean Dyche’s side from Bournemouth in 2011. He first came to prominence during the 2013-14 campaign, as his 26 goals in 45 games inspired Burnley to promotion. He was the club’s top scorer once again this year, netting 11 times as the Clarets dropped back to the Championship.

The England Under-21 international, who has netted four times for Gareth Southgate’s young Lions, joins an already packed Liverpool forward line. His arrival should trigger the departure of at least one of Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli or Fabio Borini, who have all been linked with moves away from the club (via the Mirror).

He will then fit in nicely with Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi. Despite some of the negative press that this move has received, there’s little questioning the fact that Ings is an upgrade on our current crop of back-up strikers, while he also has the potential to push on and improve.

We welcome Danny to Anfield and hope that he proves everyone wrong during his time on Merseyside!
